OINK! OINK!

Pigs like to scratch and be scratched. They like to rub against anything they chance upon. Pigs like to play... running in circles, chase each other as they grunt delight away! Pigs have short interest and attention span...they get bored and tired of same things quickly.

I am not talking about men here contrary to my female species' famous line "men are pigs".  I'm talking about the animal, their behavior and the fact that they are not dirty at all! Rolling in the mud doesn't make pigs dirty especially when the heat is on! Rolling in the mud cools them off as they are very sensitive to heat, prone to sunburns and heat strokes. It's just the way they are to survive and depending on how owners take care of their livestock, pigs are generally clean.... at least, that's how I perceive of pigs thus; I am reminded of my ultimate gastronomical desire!

Been craving again lately for Lechón... that pork dish us Filipinos inherited from our Spanish ancestors which is a nationwide favorite of the Filipino people during festivals, holidays and special occasions. With this very special dish especially in Negros Occidental where I was born and raised, the entire pig after its' entrails removed, stuffed with tamarind leaves and/or lemon grass, skewered in bamboo or thick wood, is entirely  cooked as a whole over charcoal... constantly being turned in rotisserie action. Mmmmm... tender, juicy, tasty! So loving it's crispy skin! I so love pigs... the four-legged ones! When I talk about pigs, I definitely do not refer to the men in my past! LOL!!! Oink!!!

EARLY MORNING CRAVING.... ADOBO FLAKES

For every Filipino, rice is a staple food which is absolutely nothing if it weren't for one Filipino dish... the adobo. Adobo, on the other hand, does need rice to stay pimp. It's just the way to go when one eats adobo... we really do need to eat rice... lots of it!

Adobo is the bomb of all Filipino dishes and the baby is adobo flakes! For the benefit of my foreign readers, Adobo is chicken and/or pork braised well in garlic, vinegar, oil and soy sauce... all cooked until dry. In the case of adobo flakes, the meat is shredded and fried to its' crispiest state. For every Filipino restaurant and bars, Adobo flakes is the best seller.

Most Filipino housewives cook adobo. I learned how to cook really good adobo as a teenager when I realized that my mom's adobo is the best. I've tried my friends' mom's adobo... they're also good but nothing compares with my mom's own adobo recipe... and I'm not just patronizing my mom! She taught me how to braise the meat well. The food preparation is easy but there are techniques that she taught me that I'd rather keep to myself till I have a baby girl to raise and pass on to the family secret. In the case of adobo flakes from restaurants however, I rarely appreciate eating it unless it's exceptional... enough to make me crave for it.

In the area where i live in the Philippines, the best adobo flakes is at Capone's Bistro located on the 2nd floor of A-venue, Makati Avenue, Makati City. It's absolutely heaven every single time i fulfill my gastronomical desires on one bowl of adobo flakes with matching vinegar and Knorr seasoning for my taste buds to play with. For most of the time, I really don't need the vinegar and/or Knorr seasoning because the Adobo Flakes alone tastes way too good!

Adobo flakes is the shredded crispy adobo on top of a bowl of rice... sometimes topped with a sunny-side up egg. In my case, I cast away the egg... I can enjoy eggs with other Pinoy dishes but with adobo flakes, I just need it with rice!

LAIDBACK LUKE LIVE AT REPUBLIQ 12.10.10.

Luke is laid back about everything except music. Since landing a new entry – 46 – in DJ magazine's Top 100 DJs Poll of 2008, it's clear that Holland's homeboy is on fire like never before. It's why he was selected to ignite the Stealth Live! CD series with a near perfect club mix. Why he was snapped up for a weekly Friday show by French station Radio FG. Why his own party, Super You&Me, is such a winner. Why he is bustin' up bassbins from Australia to the Americas – and ripping up a storm working with everyone from Diplo to Tiësto. Yes, Luke's stratospheric success befits his world-beating talents and is reaching new levels of hotness in 2009!

2009 is Luke's craziest year yet. His collaboration with the Swedish House Mafia, 'Leave The World Behind', was an Essential New Tune on Pete Tong's Miami show – and, as of July 2009, is Beatport's best-selling track of the year. His Super You&Me party at club Louis during WMC was also an incredible success, starring some sick tag-team antics from Diplo & A-Trak before Luke closed the show. Plus, Luke & Diplo have produced a dancefloor slayer called 'Hey' on Southern Fried. This is supported by DJs like Kissy Sell Out, on his Radio 1 show, where Luke's track with Lee Mortimer, 'Blau', received airplay. Naturally, Luke's remix talents are equally in demand – just see Martin Solveig's 'Boys & Girls' and MSTRKRFT featuring John Legend's 'Heartbreaker'. To top it off, he has remixed David Guetta and traded remixes with Tiësto. Meanwhile, Luke's own killer track 'My G*O*D* (My Guns On Demo)' is scorching floors, and he's always testing new artillery on his travels. Touring in 2009 has seen Luke continue to blaze a trail from Australia to Ibiza, where he played for David Guetta's Fuck Me I'm Famous party at Pacha, and with Roger Sanchez for Release Yourself at Amnesia. Further marking his transition to major league status, this year has also seen him nominated for best House DJ in Ibiza's DJ Awards.

Luke (Luke van Scheppingen) was born in Manila, Philippines, but grew up in the Netherlands. He loved guitars, graffiti, hip-hop and house, and found a mentor in Dobre (Chocolate Puma). He was just a teenager when he began producing, taking the 'laid back' tag from Snoop Dogg's 'Gin & Juice'. Yet by 1995 he was putting out tracks and from 96 was remixing for established artists, in addition to DJing professionally. Once beating a Dutch DMC champ in battle, Luke showed the world how he rolls: skilfully fusing an array of flavours, edits, bootlegs and a cappellas into a slick signature style. He even released an album, Psyched U, in 1999. But it wasn't until Virgin signed 'Rocking With The Best' and released his 2002 album, Electronic Satisfaction, that his profile soared. Luke's Dance Valley anthem, 'We Can Not Get Enough', then blew up. He also mixed his first compilation, Windmill Skill. His discography was therefore already looking prolific as he remixed Daft Punk (who were a huge early influence), Murk, Oliver Lieb and Tom Stephan. And to up the output in 2004, he introduced his own label, Mixmash.

Proud to be Filipino! Superstar DJ Laidback Luke Live at Republiq on Friday
December 10, 2011. Laidback Luke is ranked 17th best DJ in the world for 2010!

IT IS DEFINITELY GOOD TO CRY

When life becomes too harsh or too good enough to make me cry, I succumb... I whimper and I cry hard.

I would shed my tears all out... knowing that if I cry my heart out, I'll be better the next days... shedding tears make me tougher and stronger because after each and every cry, I feel cleansed... like my heart and mind consoled each other to feel better.  William Shakespeare once said, "To weep is to make less the depth of grief." and I truly believe it does.

Is crying good for us? Here are some of the 5 reasons why I believe, people should cry once in awhile...
  • Crying is cathartic... It's purifying and a very good therapeutic technique to release emotions and stress we endure.
  • Crying build relationships... When we cry with friends around, the bond becomes stronger. I myself am astounded by the resounding support of my friends and the level of intimacy exchanged among us. Crying simply forms communication and connection... bringing us closer to people in our lives.
  • Crying cleanses our eyes... tears lubricate our eyeballs and eyelids which helps our eyes avoid dehydration. When our eyes our not lubricated well enough, we can't see things clearly, right?
  • Crying manages stress...It relieves us of tension, reduces blood pressure and removes chemicals that are built up in our bodies due to stress like endorphins, prolactin and many more.
  • Crying helps kill bacteria... Say goodbye to wet wipes! Our tears contain lysozyme! Tears can kill 90 - 95% of bacteria in just a few minutes!
Crying is not a negative thing as other people perceive it to be because it has a lot of benefits in awaiting for us. Some people control themselves from crying thinking that they can be tough, look tough in the eyes of others but no... it just adds up worries. Suppressing a cry is bad.

Shedding a tear or two relieves us from worries, stress, etc. It is just normal for us to cry and crying is not being weak. Not only does it make us feel we co-exist with others, it just simply proves we are human.

CONFESSIONS OF AN SEO

There are times in each and everyone of us that we keep on getting constant stress leaving us totally worn out and helpless. I call this as a symptom of being burned out wherein, we seem to see everything looks bleak and it is usually hard for us to gather all energy to care or let alone, do something to get out of it. This case usually affects jobs, relationships and most of all, health. In my case, it's causing my world and my life to tilt fast....

Wonder why Search Engine Optimizers (SEO) that are good writers are highly paid... because we SEO people suffer from this case from time to time! It's not funny at all to watch how google crawls, indexes and serves the web all day and night! When companies decide to hire an SEO, it is a big decision that can potentially improve their sites, products, services and save time and money but also you can risk damage to your site and reputation especially if your SEO is not as productive and intelligent (as I think I am LOL!). However, An irresponsible SEO can be really damaging especially if he / she is suffering from technological burnout aside from the physical and mental aspect. Companies acquiring SEO's should understand that there are times that we get this once in awhile. SEO people must take a break from it all once in awhile and spend our hard-earned money! We are humans too... we get sick and tired of being on the internet! Our career alone deprives us from connecting to, socialize to, making love to other humans! Being with machines the whole time can be brain-whacking! A common reason for an SEO to be unproductive is being burned out. I don't know if there's such a thing already called an SEO illness but seriously, I am suffering from this thus; I am sharing these thoughts to all of you.

Burnout is a state of emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. It occurs when you feel overwhelmed and unable to meet constant demands. As the stress continues, you begin to lose the interest or motivation that led you to take on a certain role in the first place.

Burnouts can be easily recognized which is a must for everyone. My current burnout is brought about my own personality traits. I have this perfectionist tendencies that at times, nothing is ever good enough. At times, I think I am better than Google (LOL... yes, the internet can drive us SEO crazy at times)! I am also this pessimist... having a pessimistic view of myself and the world. Another strong trait I have is having the need to be in control...thus having this reluctance to delegate to others resulting to me being exhausted all the time. Ah yes... the workaholic me.... always the high-achieving type A personality.

Lately, I started to withdraw myself from responsibilities, isolating myself from others, procrastinating, used alcohol to cope up and taking out my frustrations on others. Bad indeed but I do recognize these and that's why I need to battle this burnout symptoms I have before I self-destruct.

Things I need to do:
  •  I'll start my days with a relaxing ritual.  Rather jumping out of bed as soon as I wake up, I'll spend at least fifteen minutes meditating, writing in your journal, doing gentle stretches, or reading something that inspires you.
  • I'll now adopt healthy eating, exercising and sleeping habits. When I eat right, engage in regular physical activity, and get plenty of rest, I always get the energy and resilience to deal with life’s hassles and demands.
  • Set boundaries... I won't be the "yes woman / yes sir" all the time. I can't afford to overextend myself. I will learn again how to say “no” to requests at my own terms and my own time. I have to constantly remind myself that saying “no” allows me to say “yes” only to the things that I truly want to do.
  • Take a daily break from work especially that I am so much into technology. I'll set a time each day when I completely disconnect... Putting away my laptop, turning off my phone and stop checking emails.
  • Going back to swimming to nourish my creative side. I choose this hobby/sport of mine... an  activity that has nothing and no relation at all with everything that I do at work.

To sum it all up, I need to do 3 things... slow down, relax and reevaluate my goals and priorities. I need a vacation. Destination? Unknown but anywhere will do just to get me back rolling in my SEO world again! Hope the companies I work with understands.

Thanks @iamfabulousgeri for making me the 101st Sexiest Woman in the Philippines with your shots!!! Love you!!!

NEAR MISSES: A LOOK BACK IN TIME

Born a Gemini, I took so many interests in this lifetime that opportunities came in but I shrugged them off for reasons I didn't know back then but now I realize why. I smile as write this... as I look back in time.

Photobucket

Had I been a singer, I would've just made one hit album. Had I continued to play tennis, I would have had worse calf injuries. Had I been a full-pledged swimmer, I would have quit smoking. Had I chosen a career path as dancer, my university dance troupe instructor would've freaked-out... wondering forever how I became a good one (she never believed in me!). Had I been an actress, I would have been an adversary of the heroine and would have been the one of the most hated personalities on television nationwide.

Photobucket

Had I continued Nursing, I would have been sued multiple times with malpractice. Had I secretly married in 2002, I would've been stuck being a wife of an asshole. Had I not broken an engagement in 2009 and married that same year, I would've been separated a few days after and divorced before this year 2010 ends. Had I not quit my job from a tyrant, I would have been miserable and depressed and I wouldn't have met the good people I have been meeting lately. Had I forced myself to Greece this year to chase my dream, I wouldn't have had enough time to be with him, I wouldn't have let him heal his wounds and all will just lead to nothingness.

And so I still smile. With the ups and downs, the nice and not so nice near misses I've had in my lifetime, I would've have been different indeed... and I wouldn't be really happy.

What comforts me is the fact that despite some good and bad judgment I made in my life, I am still alive, contented and surviving. It's a rat race... if I went off the course, my life would be just as dull as others say theirs are and at least, mine is not!

Photobucket

And so... I drink to all of that! To my dream... it's never over yet! See you in 2011 and this time, I shall make it!

RED WINE LOWERS THE RISK OF HEART ATTACK BUT IT JUST GAVE ME ONE!

I drink almost anything and I'm usually fine all the time but for the third time in my life, I experienced a blackout after a night out of drinking 1 glass of Red Wine! It's beginning to really frighten me! I've been under a lot of good and bad stress these days and now wondering during the Pacquiao vs. Margarito fight, if stress could also be playing a big part in these blackouts especially last night! What is it with drinking red wine early before party nights that later causes me to do things that I'm not happy of the following day? It just wasn't me!

Photobucket

I'm a normally happy party animal with alcohol. I don't do drugs but it seems that when I drink even just a glass of red wine, I feel I'm on one... that's just my take on it the next day when reality creeps in.

The benefits of red wine suggested that moderate amount of red wine (one drink a day for women and two drinks a day for men) lowers the risk of heart attack for people in middle age by ~ 30 to 50 percent. It is also suggested that alcohol such as red wine may prevent additional heart attacks but I woke up today with an embarrassing situation. It caused me a heart attack!

It's strange because while blacked-out, I can still carry conversations and walk around normally! I am scared to even drink a drop anymore. Blackouts are considered an early high-risk indicator of alcoholism.

I am concerned with my so-called temporary insanity... totally staying away from red wine plus cutting back or setting limits on my alcohol intake from now on is the only option for me. Seriously though... red wine is literally, my poison.

LOCKED UP ON EMOTIONAL PRISONS

There are times we yearn for more intimacy in our lives yet, we aren't really certain how to get what we want that sometimes, just when we get to be close to getting what we desire, we build walls.

Photobucket

I had a good discussion about this with my cousin last night about his being vulnerable in the past and building walls. Allowing ourselves to be vulnerable is dangerous as being one implies we might get hurt. No one wants to get hurt or to hurt another.

What is intimacy? It's a step towards a possible relationship because a relationship without intimacy is not a relationship. It's what you call "friendship".

With this, we talked about who builds walls more... the men or women. My cousin built walls and I built my own walls too. However, for me, it's the men. As children, girls wail about physical pain and they're allowed to do so while the boys brought up to think it is not manly to show the pain. This caused little boys not talking about their feelings. They grow into men with an emotional vocabulary less developed than that of the women.

Men in general often have trouble naming exactly what they feel and often more vague in describing emotions. I remember an ex-boyfriend who would often be anxious when the whole topic of emotions are being brought up while I was more comfortable talking about almost anything else!

Some men talk about feelings as if they live in fortresses with walls as high as The Great Wall of China! A few were allowed to walk in but these are the ones closest to them. Although they felt safe within the confinements they built, they feel as if there is essentially no one with whom they can truly be themselves... which is really sad. Some men i know including my cousin overcame and break down their own walls because they realized it gets too be too lonely.

So many of us confuse thoughts and feelings. Feelings are words, not explanations. We all live in a time when depression is rampant in our time. Depression isn't always feeling sad. Depression is at times, just feeling numb or very little thus; we build walls which is not good.

Photobucket

Defenses though aren't bad. Without these, we would be vulnerable and some experiences can be very painful. If our shield is always up, we should always think not just with our thoughts but feel our feelings. When we yearn for intimacy, we need to acknowledge our feelings. When something happens, we take a deep look on it for we never know if what we are feeling is actually more than one feeling.

I keep my defenses up all the time but there are instances that I lower them to find out what could actually be because I don't want that one day, I'll forever wonder what could have been, what should have been and what might have been with a particular person or situation. After all, everything is a risk and pain... we just gotta let it ride out or we wouldn't feel human at all!

Photobucket

Life is just way too short to worry about so many things!

Thanks to Vincent Garrucho for my own photos :))

ON BEING BAD ABOUT GIFTS RECEIVED

Is it bad to sell a Christmas gift like this that I received from a generous friend?

Photobucket

Some of my friends freaked out soon as I told them I'm selling the Macbook 13 inches that I just got today. Would that make me a bad person?

I've put myself on my generous friend's shoes and pondered at the the thought "Once you give a gift, it's the receiver's option to do with it as they please." and that made me believe that I should do what would be best for the item. Either it rots in my house because I'm never a Mac-lover or I could sell it to friends who actually have a need for it.

If he is an ex-boyfriend and had given me a bracelet, would I sell it since we are no longer together and we're not in speaking terms? I still say yes. Sell it, or throw it away, or give it away. I know once of a girl who held onto a bracelet from a guy for 17 years. Hell, she might still have it. She was vainly hoping he would come back to her... what a waste of her life! How Delusional! I am not saying she is but I think it is best to just let go and move on, and not hang onto a fantasy.

So it's the same with me and this Macbook 13 inches.... I don't wish for it to be lonely. Such a beautiful item should be put in use but I'm never going to lay my precious fingers on it because Mac and I were not just friendly with each other. My life is already too complicated to handle another complicated gadget!

Selling it for P45,000 now and I'm not changing my mind!

For those who plan to be generous to me, please... no Mac, no iPhone, no expensive stuff! I am simple girl who makes a fun life out of simple things!

WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH, GET A CHARTERED FLIGHT

A couple of friends of mine were recently trapped in Boracay Island, Philippines when they couldn't get a flight back home due to the island's peak season. This may sound like a luxury but if one has to get back home for very important reasons, a charter flight is no longer one but it becomes a definite necessity.

Shyloh booked a chartered flight from Boracay to Manila last November 3, 2010 via Airgurus Ltd. Co. ( www.airgurus.com ). She and friends Melai, Georgina and Rain were able to avoid booking troubles, long sweaty lines at the airports and instead, they enjoyed the familiar sites all the way home from a different perspective in one of Airgurus' fantastic helicopters and planes (see www.airgurus.com/aircrafts.html ).

Capt. Harry Harvey Lero who spearheads the team of fully qualified and very experienced pilots of Airgurus Ltd. Co., safely chauffeured Shyloh and friends home. Flying at an altitude of around 1000 feet, the girls got a fresh and exciting look at Philippines' many beautiful islands, bay lines, lush forests and city orbits... truly an exhilarating experience.

Trust me, it's just so different with helicopters in the Philippines as I have my own experience with a few since childhood days (thanks to Capt. Lero's dad, Harry Lero) to adulthood. Each experience is different every single time!

So, to escape from the hustle and bustle whenever you are entangled in one here in the Philippines, charter your own private helicopter and enjoy a chauffeured ride through the skies. See Airgurus' services ( at www.airgurus.com/services.html ) or call them 24/7 at +632 583 6337 / +632 854 4086 / +63 920 955 0897 / +63 917 596 6288 or email them at info@airgurus.com

Remember, a chartered helicopter flight is no luxury especially if it is necessary!

PET ABUSE

I am fired up to update my blog because of this Facebook wall post photo of a friend appealing to help him find these men who subjected the poor dog to violence and cruelty.

“Acts of violence or neglect perpetrated against animals are considered animal cruelty,” according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA - see related informational paper on ASPCA). It is important to distinguish between the different forms of animal cruelty. While fundamentally different at the source, all forms result in the physical and/or emotional suffering of the animal victim.

Animal cruelty simply means cruel unwarranted treatment of animals. Such treatment generally has a single point program - to subject animals and sometimes pets to unnecessary harm and pain. One major type of animal cruelty is torture.

Clearly in the photo above, it is a deliberate abuse/torture. I am on the hunt for these people because I think, these people are with serious emotional problems that may beat, shoot, or stab animals or set them on fire. These photos is a clear indication of people who abuse animals and are very likely to be violent to other people...even their own families too.
