FORTUNE ISLAND: PARADISE IN THE PHILIPPINES

I have been covering aerial photography of anything including beautiful islands in the Philippines for clients at my helicopter company, Airgurus Ltd. Co. Most often, I don't get the credits for my shots and I couldn't release them because understandably, if I go along the helicopter trips with clients, my work belongs to them.    However, last end of June was particularly different. The captain of Airgurus, Capt. Harry Lero called us for Project FI. I didn't know it would be Fortune Island near Batangas, Philippines... an extremely beautiful island with pristine white sand and an acropolis with Grecian pillars and statues on the edge of the island overlooking the blue sea.

The island is long-owned by Jose Antonio Leviste, a former governor of the Province of Batangas who build a resort in 1995 that was shut down in 2006. Fortune Island is an island in the Philippines with about 27-hectares (66.7 acres) and lies about 14 kilometers (8.7 miles) off the coast of Nasugbu, Batangas, Philippines.

The island is within the boundaries of the Batangas province. It was near this island (approximately 900 meters / 2,953 ft. northwest of the island) that the galleon San Diego was sunk on December 14, 1600 by the Dutch warship Mauritius under the command of Admiral Oliver Van Noort. The shipwreck was discovered in 1992 by French underwater archeologist Franck Goddio. Fortune island has also been the site of modern day shipwrecks.

Nowadays, the island has no available basic amenities... no potable water for drinking, no electricity. Permission to visit the island for some hours is strictly required nowadays as the management wants to avoid littering by public. There are boats that offer trips but they can't stay long as the sea going to Fortune Island can be rough.

Airgurus offers helicopter charter to Fortune Island. You can go have a picnic, a romp on the beach, have a photo shoot, see the magnificent sites of the island, etc... either the captain waits for you or he comes back for you. Going to and from Fortune Island is just a full one hour trip via helicopter from Manila. Airgurus can arrange for your longer stay and exploration in the island.

For an island tour to Fortune Island via helicopters, it would cost about Php65,000-80,000 range depending on helicopter types with Airgurus... the best company for helicopter island tours in the Philippines

APPRECIATING PHILIPPINES: MY AERIAL COLLECTION PART 1

I love flying around my country via helicopters because of the so many things beautiful things I see at a bird's-eye view.  Photography is one of my hobbies that I get to enjoy as I go along with the captain, the executives of Airgurus, friends and clients anywhere in the Philippines.

I started taking aerial shots of beautiful places all over the country last January as we, at Airgurus, covered the IronMan Challenge 2011. There is just one too many. Everything actually is beautiful from above and last weekend, I once again had a chance to enjoy aerial photography.

Thanks to my childhood best friend, Capt. Harry Lero of Airgurus Ltd. Co. for making me appreciate and love my country more each time!

WHAT CAN YOU CHARTER A HELICOPTER FOR?

Airgurus Ltd. Co. is the leading helicopter charter and aircraft company in the Philippines with a 24/7 operations center at Delta Hangar, Domestic Airport Road, Pasay City.

The following are popular uses for helicopters especially for first time flyers as per Airgurus:

    • Helicopter sightseeing.... perhaps over a local landmark during sunset.
    • Helicopter flying lesson, often called trial lessons or air experience flights, when the customer gets a chance to try flying for themselves
    • A helicopter flight to a wedding, perhaps one’s own!
    • A helicopter trip to Boracay, Baguio, Palawan and many other tourist destinations!
    • A helicopter experience, or short hop to just experience the magic of a rotary flight!

There are many other important reasons for chartering a helicopter... i.e., medical evacuation, air ambulance and search and rescue operations! Almost anything can be arranged if the prospective customer simply lets their requirements be known.

Points to Consider When Choosing A Helicopter Operator

    • Helicopter flying is not cheap, but it may not be as expensive as some people think.
    • It is worth the customer considering what it is that they actually want.
    • If all that is wanted is to see what it feels like, it is best to look for a company which arranges the most number of helicopter experiences.
    • These may be very short flights of five or ten minutes, with a number of people aboard; so they can be done reasonably and economically.
    • If the customer has a special requirement and needs the helicopter for himself, family or friends, this can be arranged but he will pay accordingly.
    • It is always worth shopping around and letting the helicopter charter company know exactly what is required.
    • The customer will pay before the helicopter leaves its base.

A helicopter trip is very special. If it is planned carefully, it could provide a never-to-be-forgotten experience. Airgurus Ltd. Co. can fly you anytime you want, wherever you want, with as little as two (2) hours notice or even less provided an aircraft is readily available.

DAY-TRIP DIVING IN APO REEF, PHILIPPINES

Airgurus Ltd. Co., the leading Helicopter and Aircraft Charter and Air Ambulance company in the Philippines is offering diving enthusiasts one (1) day diving trips to Apo Reef, Mindoro with one of the countries' best dive masters as your guide to the world's second largest contiguous coral reef in the world and the largest one in the Philippines.

Apo Reef is one of the best and most famous diving site in the Philippines and one of the most popular coral reefs in the world.  It is located 28 kilometers off the western coast of Mindoro Island, and it is 34 kilometers long... divided into two lagoon systems... north and south. It is a blissful experience for divers as it has spectacular drop offs and walls in best visibility.

The shallow lagoon with a depth of 2 - 10 meters is surrounded by mangrove forest which serves as source of food, nursery and spawning ground for coastal and marine species of fauna and birds. Apo Reef's corals are so diverse... approximately 34 sq. kilometers of the reef nurtures magnificent species of invertebrates, marine mammals and fish. Apo Reef is every photographer's dream.

A protected sanctuary and a declared National Park since 1996, Apo Reef is a unique natural phenomenon with its' exotic and enchanting marine life species!

Since Apo Reef is difficult to access and to spare local and foreign divers from spending too much time traveling, Airgurus Ltd. Co. is now offering day trips via helicopters with options of course for divers to extend their stay in the island.

The dive spots around Apo Reef like the Ego Wall, Alladin and Hunter's Rock offers tremendous coral drops with excellent overhangs where schools of turtles, white-tip reef sharks, snappers, gray sharks, great barracudas and so many more are common.  Visibility is often excellent in Apo Reef due to its' location which is very far out in the South China Sea.
