IT'S ALL SET: A MILLION PEOPLE'S MARCH... ANGRY BIRDS FLOCK TOGETHER

It's all set! A million or more Filipinos will be marching to Luneta Grandstand in Manila tomorrow like them "Angry Birds" in the gaming world.  Happening August 26, 2013 on National Heroes' Day... the angry Pinoys on Facebook have set this march in protest to the alleged misuse of pork barrel funds.

The Filipinos joining the march will be demanding of the following:
1. The scrapping of pork barrel or any other name it will be called in future.
2. That the senators and congressmen in the pork barrel fund scam be investigated and charged accordingly, with full live media coverage for the people to see.

Filipinos will altogether be demanding for transparency and accountability from the President and the Philippine government. All other information about this event, is on the Facebook Event page .

I am a Filipino. I am joining this remarkable Million People's March tomorrow with the hopes that this march will lead to good changes in my country for the future generation of Filipinos worldwide.

FABIO IDE'S GIFT FOR HIS PARENTS: A HELICOPTER TOUR IN MANILA

Up, up and away! Philippines' TV celebrity Fabio Ide, who is currently the lead in GMA7's Coffee Prince as Leo (a  drama series which originally came from Korea) recently took his visiting parents by surprise... a helicopter ride with Airgurus Ltd. Co.

Playing the real-life role of doting son this time despite his hectic schedule in showbiz, Fabio took his mom and dad for a helicopter tour in the world-famous Tagaytay, where the world's smallest active volcano, Taal Volcano is sitting in between the Taal Lake.

It was both his mom and dad's first helicopter ride and both enjoyed the tour from Manila's coastal areas all the way to the mountain ranges of Tagaytay. Fabio sat with his mom and his dad got the special cockpit ride with Airgurus' Chief Executive Officer and Chief Pilot, Capt. Harry Lero.

Unfortunately that day, Fabio had an 11am appointment so we took off early instead of the scheduled 11am flight. Reaching Tagaytay, a very thick fog covers the entire Taal Lake make the Taal Volcano visibly impossible.

So, Fabio decided to take his parents for a very special breakfast date they ever had with him... breakfast at the world-renowned Antonios' Restaurant.

The fun ride with his parents did not end right after breakfast. Fabio Ide talked to the captain and asked if we could take them to see Metro Manila too!

It was a memorable day for Fabio and his parents... so happy that upon landing at the hangar of Airgurus, they still had wide smiles on their faces! Great job, Fabio... what a loving son!

3 HOT SHOPPING TIPS BEFORE GOING TO THE OFF PRICE SHOW

I was so excited about the open day sale of The Off Price Show that I went to the venue at about 11am today. There weren't many people yet at that time but of course, Friday is still a working day. Even though I was already drooling over nice stuff I could by for myself and my family, I decided to wait for my co-bloggers before I shopped.

Waiting for them took me 2 hours that was consumed on having a yummy Spaghetti Alla Bolognese and refreshing Iced Tea at Cibo (located at the food center of The Off Price Show) followed by coffee.

In that short amount of time, the event venue is crowded with bargain hunters like me and the line got long. Noticing that it went longer in just a few minutes, I called my co-blogger Daizy to bring the maid so we can leave the maid queued for us on the growing long line for payments.

It was a very smart decision so we had so much fun shopping for anything that we needed to buy for our families and for ourselves. Fitting on clothes  was most fun!

It's the biggest bargain sale in Manila so people shouldn't complain about the long lines for payment. Normally, if there is anyone who would freak out on long lines, complain about it and walk out, it would be me because I'm a very impatient person with hypertension... but hey, with less than Php5,000 I was able to gather on great deals for myself and my family so how can I possibly leave them? Patience is not my virtue but with the prices of the stuff I gathered, it was all worth it!

Shopping at The Off Price Show is very much like the Black Sales in the U.S. which means, If you want to buy things at great discounts, long queues to the cashier is the price to pay. So here are my hot tips for everyone else who wants to go to the massive shopping event tomorrow and Sunday:

1. Arrive at The Off Price Show well before it is scheduled to open!
Shopping time is from 10am - 10pm. You will still have to wait in line but it will not be half as long if you get there later in the day.

2. Bring a jacket or 2 or come in with warm clothing!
Even though it's a large crowd of bargain hunters there, believe it or not, it feels like you're inside a refrigerator! Kudos to the World Trade Center Tent management... the air-conditioning system is very good!

3. Bring a companion with you!
This is where girlfriends / boyfriends / spouse / maids are best to be with. One can go stand in line for you while you shop and take turns with them. The amount of time standing in line at The Off Price Show will then be cut in half.

I think I did my show and tell fairly well and so I'll leave you the best phrase to mention when it comes to everything we do in life is... "The early bird, catches the worm!"

ROSE STEIN: AIRBRUSH MAKEUP EXPERT IN MANILA, PHILIPPINES

In the past, I keep on seeing on various social media platforms friends and people wanting to learn about airbrush make up and that they go to school for it. I got curious but shrugged the idea off as make up didn't really interest me that much till I met Rose Stein, a Manila-based, Professional Hair and Makeup Artist and Airbrush Makeup Expert.

I met Rose Stein a decade ago in a modeling project I spearheaded. Throughout the years, I see her doing more and more gigs in modeling. We went out with common friends a few times but I never knew till late that she is now one professional airbrush makeup expert in Manila. I bumped into her recently at a friend's bridal shower then wedding engagement and it was there that I knew about her career.

Airbrush as she told me is a technique of spraying makeup onto the skin using an airbrush instead of being applied using brushes, fingers, sponges, etc. and I learned that them makeup professionals really go to school for this. Rose Stein also told me that she even has to go to London School of Makeup to get advanced studies for this. Wow... I thought to myself... isn't it very expensive to do so? I did ask Rose and she said yes it is very expensive indeed but that sacrifices has to be made to further improve herself in her skills and profession. Here are some of her works in the past that I got from Rose Stein's official website www.maryrosestein.com

I then thought it is a wise move having further studies offshore. The move would make her a formidable star in her field... I mean, not every make up artist makes the serious effort nor has some money saved to make room for improvement. To be competitive and excel on a certain field, improvement can be never-ending as nothing is constant. Especially in beauty and fashion, one has to be in the know of what's hot and what's not... conforming to the trend.

Watch out for Rose Stein, women in the Philippines! She is one to be searched for when it comes to makeup artistry in the country. Below is one her brochures for your reference. All contact details are there including her email should you need to ask for rates as well as mobile, website and Facebook page.

Rose Stein uses high quality cosmetic brands that is apt for your skin type and colour to ensure the best results.

ONCE UPON A TIME IN MANILA WITH DARREN EMERSON

Last October 14, 2011... I was able to personally meet DARREN EMERSON at TIME in Manila, Philippines when he played at the puny world-class underground club I call "home".

The Shambolic Waiting
Oh! I've always known that he is one gorgeous man based on my following him all over the net for ages...

Yes, I confess... I am one of his biggest fans and I love his music since I saw the movie, Trainspotting... where his genius track "Born Slippy NUXX" was featured as movie soundtrack. That song... a brill anthem I'll never ever get tired of, was and still is, one of the most memorable dance track ever!

I dreamed about him being featured at TIME too where I even posted one of his photos on my wall months ago before Team Time actually confirmed to me he was gonna come to Manila. I was ecstatic!

However, seeing Darren Emerson in person for the first time exceeded my expectations... he is absolutely a gorgeous man! He looks like George Clooney... so manly... exuding an animal appeal that makes girls and women go "rawrrr"!

At first sight of him as I walked into the room, I think my heart fell! I have never really been starstruck by anyone but oh my... I suddenly was this giddy teenage girl in my early years going gaga over the then famous group Menudo!

As I wait for my turn to ask him a few questions for my blog, so daft of me... I was downing San Miguel Light beers like a true endorser! I replayed on my head 10 questions I prepared to ask him but I guess I had too much beer and Darren's eyes are such a distraction that I was only able to come up with one! LOL!

The Shambolic Interview
My partner at TIME, Pav Parrotte, had to frisk me first for dangerous weapons that might harm Darren. Pav probably thought I'd kidnap Darren Emerson but hey, I already kidnapped the guy a thousand times whenever I listen to his music.

Oh yeah... the frisking episode sort of reminded me of a customs guy in Germany asking me if I have any dangerous weapons in my person... to which I replied, "Yes, my brain."

After the fun frisking, I need to calm my nerves, looked Darren straight in his distracting eyes and threw my one and only question (thanks, San Miguel Light): "Regarding Born Slippy NUXX... how did it get to be selected as one of the soundtracks for the movie Trainspotting? Is it your own influence because you are one heck of a DJ?"

Darren Emerson smiled and gave his answer. Oh boy! Here comes trouble... not because of the smile but because after daftly downing beers, I seem to have completely lost my comprehension of British English!

Gawd blimey! I found myself drowning and/or floating in a plethora of words that seemed to be beyond my comprehension and caught just this... "English filmaker and producer, Danny Boyle was a fan of Underworld and he picked the song because it seemed appropriate for the movie... blah blah blah...". Sorry Darren... I'm such a twit! LOL!

Nevertheless, i had so much fun... pre-party time with Darren Emerson. When it was his time to play at TIME, I don't think I ever left the dance floor for 4 hours that he played! I was just happily dancing like everyone else!

For the first time in my life, I was literally dancing like no one was watching (like my Time partner Sarah Rosser in the photo above) that I ended up taking my shoes off at the end of the night!

Darren Emerson gave Manila one stonking party. Meeting him and having been able to talk to him is like me winning a lottery... only better... because I never tried betting on one! I wish he would come back again to play at TIME in Manila! What a great DJ... one of the best!

To Darren... for giving us Filipinos the opportunity to dance live with your music, Ta! I'm forever a fan! See you again someday soon, mate!

Ooops! Before I end this post, did I mention that Darren Emerson likes to "tweet"?

Darren busy on Twitter
Follow him on Twitter... @darrenemerson or bookmark his website www.darrenemerson.com

Ta, Vincent Garrucho for documenting my time with Darren Emerson!
