A SAD DAY: MISSING ROMANIAN FOUND DEAD

Black Saturday, April 7, 2012 is a sad day for the families of George Sfintes, 23 years old in Romania. A mere swim with his friends at one of the Philippines wonderful tourist spots... the Tappiya Waterfall, turned out fatal for George. He was reported missing last Wednesday and the body was found by rescue workers, Saturday morning as per the news media in the Philippines.

Since he has gone missing, social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter have been working to find this Romanian university student... a cry for help from his family and friends in Romania. I got the Facebook post below from my friends which originally came from Tove Marion Winiger, a friend of George Sfintes' sister. The post comes with the hopes to find George but he happened to be just in Tappiya Waterfalls where he was last seen.

The Provincial police chief, Laurence Mombael was reported to say that the 23 years old Sfintes was with 10 other Western and Japanese visitors. George studied at a Japanese university. He says Sfintes could have strayed too close to the base of the falls and may have drowned after he was sucked into the churning water. The police have yet to conduct a thorough investigation on this but it was said that his family were already informed.

Tappiya Waterfalls is located 30 minutes away from Batad Village in Banaue, Ifugao, Philippines. Tappiya is a popular cascading waterfall with its' enormous pool for swimming.
