THE GRAND LAUNCH OF TIME IN MANILA 09.16.11

Time flies so fast…
It seems like it wasn’t long ago when former club owners Domini Primero and Jay Server were hunting for the best team of partners they can possibly be with then, for the “Underground Club Project.” In reality, it really took them awhile. Many expressed interest in joining. The duo could’ve have just gone for their rich friends and acquaintances but, they took their time.

To qualify as a partner in the club, it has nothing to do with money… it has something to do with a conviction to build a club for people who knows what quality dance music is all about. It was like a job interview for the other partners… they were thoroughly questioned on the belief and faith for the “underground” music policy for the club... owing to the fact that there are not a lot of proper venues for dancing. It took the duo a long time… but the brilliant wait was all worth it.

All our possessions for a moment of Time…
The whole process of tearing down the old building, once the home for historical underground clubs Seven-Eight Orange and Government was easy… but constructing a new one for TIME IN MANILA is like surviving a Russian mafia gun hold-up with Snoop Dog.

People have been wondering… what’s taking it so long. Rumors even spread it was never going to open. Behind the construction of a 3-level club, were partners constantly deliberating, carefully planning for everyone’s new home for a cutting-edge dance club in the Philippines.

This Time, like all times, is a very good one, if we but know what to do with it…
The structure was built, the insides of it polished, staff prepared to take orders… but what to do? March 2011 we softly opened doors of TIME IN MANILA. From little party events to collaborations with great minds of locals believing what the club is all about, to big ones showcasing live dj sets for the best foreign djs… big names such as Rosie Romero (Space), Sonny Wharton (UK), John “00” Fleming, Jojo Flores (Got Soul Montreal), Jazzanova, Soultribe... all were successful but we all had to remain cautious of what we do.  And so we have properly structured all partners’ and event planners’ involvement in the club.  We all thank everyone who have been with us from day one as we struggled for our call to proper dance clubbing experience. Now, everyone together with the management staff works as a team, we are all ready to deliver the best clubbing experience in Manila to those who love to dance.

Time is more valuable than money. Time is the greatest constituent of life…
TIME IN MANILA… A nightclub with rock-star appeal through the vision of experienced entrepreneurs and underground house music affecionados will soon be embarking upon a taste of nightlife that will exceed any other nightclub experience ever imagined in the nation’s capital…. Manila.

Located at 7840 Makati Avenue, Makati City, the club built for an exclusive capacity of only 500 boasts a simple but beautiful ambiance including a main room with less furniture for the sole objective of making more space for dancing, a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system, second floor VIP area and a cool roofdeck for lounge and eclectic dance music.

It's now TIME...
TIME IN MANILA is now ready for its’ grand launch on September 16, 2011 featuring one of the world’s best DJs, Nick Warren.

TIME IN MANILA opens 5 days in a week and will be the home to the hottest promoters in the Philippines, home to foreign resident DJs, home to featured world-class DJs and celebrity hosts using TIME as their venue, not merely for revelry but for endless appreciation of what real night clubbing life is all about.

It’s TIME for change…
It’s TIME to dance…
It’s TIME.

A Glimpse of Boracay's Future by Megaworld Global-Estate Inc.

It is for me an outrage! Plans are underway for the future of Boracay Island as seen on Megaworld Global-Estate Inc.'  Facebook Page! The Philippines' best tourist destination will soon be mutilated to pave way for the  Boracay NewCoast Village!  So please, I beg you NOT TO LIKE their page!

If that opening salvo has not gotten your attention, here are some photos of Boracay's future...

Boracay Island... which includes our music, food, rhythm, dance and essentially our warm and captivating personality as Filipino people is as central as the sun, sea and sand to our tourism... a fact that separates us from the rest of the world.

There are so many people from all over including us Filipinos who would love to be able to talk, walk, run, dance and generally have a simple lifestyle at the vacation spot we all love. However, it is just sad that not most of us fully appreciate and understand the value of what treasures we have in our country.

Although I understand that our beautiful islands in the Philippines like Boracay adapts to modernization over the years, I can't seem to accept that one day soon, it will be flooded with vehicles, more modern structures, etc. like what Megaworld Global-Estate Inc. plans...

I can't help not think about conservation. Conservation means protecting something from change or destruction while permitting its wise use. It thus involves managing our use of natural resources so that we can benefit from them now without damaging the possible benefits they can provide in the future. On islands, conservation of nature is protecting the little forests, animals, birds, plants, fishes and marine life that are bound to be further extinct when new developments come. Conservation of species is so important for Filipinos... so that they will always be there for our future generations to use and enjoy.

I am really concerned with this particular development. It is possible that Megaworld Global-Estate Inc.'s plans for the "future of Boracay" may overlook some long-term costs associated with it... such as a land-clearing project that damages a water supply, or new establishments that may further pollute parts of the island and kills fish used by local fishermen.

This leads me to ask... would the short-term benefit of some people from this development be more worth than the long-term loss of the water supply or fishery as well the total destruction of Boracay's remaining simplicity and charm?

I must visit Boracay soon to see for one last time the remaining glory of what it was when I was a kid for I simply refuse to book a flight in future from anywhere just to see Bonificio High Street, Eastwood Libis, Burgos Circle The Fort in the once beautiful and precious Boracay Island.

I call this entire project of Megaworld Global-Estate Inc... as the RAPE OF BORACAY ISLAND!

Sorry... this is my opinion, my blog spot and I say what I want... My words will live forever!

Kasbah Manila Calling @ Time In Manila

A taste of Morroco from Kasbah Boracay at Time in Manila... through the lens of Vincent Garrucho!

Who would have thought that Manila's premier underground club, Time... would be totally  transformed when Kasbah Boracay came to Manila for an evening of Moroccan magic last August 20, 2011!

The night was filled with a luscious buffet and an evening of seductive music and electrifying performances by Noli Aurillo, Nyko Maca, Marcus Maguigad, Marshall White and Cy Wasu. For only P1500/head, the beautiful people of Manila were treated to exquisite food... enchanting rhythms... Manila was simply immersed into the world of exquisite Moroccan delights!

Kasbah Boracay is one of the top restaurants on Boracay Island. Its' authentic Morrocan cuisine has put itself on the map of the Philippines. One has to simply "Google it".

Watch out when Time and Kasbah makes a calling once again for a Kasbah Experience soon so you can have your fill of an exquisite Moroccan evening!

Thanks Vincent... for the great photos!

MY HEAVENLY PURCHASES AT LEGASPI SUNDAY MARKET

There are two things that I always make sure of purchasing at the Legaspi Sunday Market (aside from my fave lechon (roast pork) and fresh vegetables) every Sunday. I go for juice and pure essential / aroma therapy oils.

Medicinal value: it consists of anti-flatulent, diuretic, anti-hypertension that help to reduce toxins in the body

Nutritional value: it is rich of vitamin A, calcium and phosphorus that keep eyes, bone and teeth healthy.

Working for more than 5 days in a week and sitting in front of the internet for about 14 hours a day can sometimes bring me joint and back pains on weekend. To combat this, is drinking lemongrass juice.

Aside from the lemongrass juice, I always go to this couple in the photo:

They sell pure essential aromatherapy oils to soothe my mood, diffuse lingering odor from smoking at home and help me create an infectious free zone of air at home to protect myself and my visitors. Breathing air diffused with essential oils attacks any virus or bacteria lining the respiratory tract which may have been inhaled outside my infectious free zone. It just helps keep the infection being spread at home.

I especially like the Calamansi essential oil they make aside from these 2 new oils that the couple sells:

Oil from the green tea plant has been in use for many centuries as a source of healing body oils. Green tea body oils are one of the best healing oils that can help to reduce aches and rejuvenates the particular parts of the body. Many commercial green tea oil manufacturers produce this oil in bottled form to be used when for personal rejuvenation and also by professional masseurs.

Besides that, green tea oil is also a good perfume. This oil is normally used as home fragrance oil, where its high quality yields a crisp and fresh scent that is perfect for any room as well as for everyday use. This type of oil is usually slightly more expensive than the normal aromatherapy oils, because they are very rare in the market and production cost is pretty high.

Tea is the "miraculous medicine for the maintenance of health" and "the elixir that creates the mountain-dwelling immortals" as per the 12th century Zen priest Eisai. In fact this was very true to its nature, as tea is one of the best natural healing products with all sorts of medicinal powers ranging from fat burning to anti-oxidizing free radicals.

The vintage English lavender fragrance of this oil fills your home with stylish relaxation. The wonderfully calming aroma is just perfect for relaxing and entertaining.
I bought this last week.. used it in my bedroom and oh my! My bedroom smells just as good and as calming once you enter a spa.. and i always feel like not leaving the bed at all! I love this and I'm so buying once again this weekend!

If you are in the Philippines and you happen to be in Makati City on a Sunday morning, it is best that you check the Legaspi Sunday Market and look for lemongrass juice and the great oils!

REX NAVARRETE AT RESORTS WORLD MANILA 8.24.11

OMG! I can't help not blogging about this! He's going to be back! Fil-Am comedian Rex Navarrete comes back to Metro Manila on August 24, 2011 for an all new act at the Newport Performing Arts Theater (NPAT) of Resorts World Manila!

Saw a flyer of this on Facebook and I panicked... calling Ticketworld for ticket reservations minutes ago! Ticketworld told me tickets are selling like crazy! This funny man got tons of Pinoy fans all over the world way back Friendster days ha ha ha!

I met Rex Naverrete personally at a posh exclusive Gentleman's Club in Ortigas in the early 2000's (I think that was 2001 or 2002 if my memory serves me right) and boy! I was starstruck as I sat on a table beside him. I tried not to show I am great fan of his in the beginning but when we were properly introduced I couldn't hold myself back, I told him (almost shrieking) "Rex, mag-pa-pakatotoo na ako... I'm your fan! Ha ha!" That night was really enjoyable as I had a real good conversation with him... well... i was actually listening to him more tee hee... he's a real entertainer in person. I remember him telling me funny stories about his first time in the US and seeing snow, his childhood experiences, etc. He's really funny even off-stage! On stage when I watched his show days later... Omg! I was laughing non-stop!

Rex Navarrete became well-known in the social media platforms when he unleashed on the internet his "SBC Packers" stint and the famous animated "Maritess vs. the Superfriends"... The story of a Filipina domestic helper working for the most powerful beings in the world! See video below:

Here's some info about the upcoming act... "Rex @ Resorts World Manila" is scheduled on August 24, 2011, 8:00pm at the Newport Performing Arts Theater (NPAT). Mike Unson and Noel Gascon are also slated to warm up the crowd as opening acts and a splendid time is guaranteed for all.

The event is presented by Catalyst Revolution.

Tickets start at Php 750 (Balcony), Php 1,750 (Deluxe), Php 2,5000 (Premier Center), Php 3,500 (Premier) and Php 5,000 (VIP). Tickets are available at Ticketworld locations and at www.ticketworld.com.ph

Oh boy! I can't wait to laugh again until my sides hurt!
